Growing up with parents that needed to move every 3-5 years for work, I learned an important lessons. Make your home your home was soon as possible. Even if it is for only 6 months, but those curtains and those plants. They will help you feel safe and secure. And indeed, at all the places I always stayed more than planned. 6 months became 3 years.

And this immediate decoration step gives you warm feelings when you think back about your space ☺️

Yeap I see it now. But it took a loooong time. It is also one thing to "see it" and an another to actually go against your instict and do something about it.

Yes one advantage of moving countries is that we tend to become more minimalist

I don't know if I have become more minimalistic. I think I always had that trait. But it has definitely forced me to realize which of my belongings I value the most.

Did you notice a difference in your buying habits?

Awww this hits a soft spot in my heart too. Packing stresses me out so much, even if it's for a weekend. That's why I keep a permanently-packed bag on hand with doubles of everything I need. Everytime you pack your life in a 20 kg suitcase you split your soul. Packing is creating horcruxes!

I think I 've overcome the stress of packing, when it is only for a weekend. Maybe I have also optimized a lot of my stuff to be versatile enough, so I only need one per category😅.

May I ask why do you find weekend packing stressful? Packing to move overseas I totally understand, but I would expect once you have traveled/moved a bit, weekend trips should be a piece of cake.

I think you should write about your 'one per category' lifestyle. As a maximalist I find it fascinating and I really tried to apply it to some aspects of my life but, pheww it was hard. I think I hate packing pretty much for the same reason, it's restrictive and limiting. The suitcase is asking me to pick one of each, pick one personality, one aesthetics, and yet be prepared for anything. Is it a generational thing? A cultural thing? A single-child thing?

Thanks for the suggestion,it is not officially added to the to-write list!

Well it is not like you have to pick one of each. If you feel like having mutliple outfits, just because you like them, that is a also valid reason to get an extra luggage.

In cases where I was really struggling to fit everything, I actually found it quite liberating to tell that to myself. I ll pay for one more luggage and get on with my life. This is not a problem worth worrying about.

It is *now* officially added to the to-write list. Now. Quite a mix up a typo can make 😅
